Emily Hill

Director
Mrs. Hill graduated from Frostburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. She graduated summa cum laude with honors and a concentration in instrumental music in the discipline. In her undergraduate studies, Mrs. Hill was a member of the Bobcat marching band, wind ensemble, university chorale, piano studio, and clarinet ensembles. She studied clarinet under Dr. Mark Gallagher, piano under Dr. Nancy Witmer, and conducting and instrumental pedagogy under Dr. Phillip Klickman. Currently, Mrs. Hill is pursuing her Master's in Music- Music Education (M.M.M.E.) through the University of Florida's College of the Arts.

Mrs. Hill holds current memberships with the National Association for Music Education, Maryland Music Educators Association, Phi Eta Sigma academic honors society, Order of Omega Greek honors society, and Sigma Alpha Iota International Women's Music Fraternity. Mrs. Hill serves on the Executive Board as recording secretary for the Maryland Music Educators Association (MMEA), which is the state extension of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

Mrs. Hill has been at Oakdale High School for five years and has worked with the instrumental, vocal, guitar, and piano programs. Currently, she teaches the marching band, concert band, pit orchestra, jazz band, piano program, and serves as the Tri-M Advisor for Oakdale's music honor society. She is very honored and excited to work with the BEST BEAR BAND IN THE LAND!

Brad Kauffman

Assistant Band Director
Brad Kauffman is a graduate of Catoctin High School and is the Assistant Band Director at Oakdale High School. Brad has loved playing music ever since he picked up his first trumpet over ten years ago at Mother Seton School and continues to play daily. He specializes in brass instruments but also plays clarinet, percussion, and auxiliary instruments.
Brad's playing experience includes performing with different music groups at Catoctin High School such as: The Marching Cougar Band, concert band, symphonic orchestra, musical pit ensembles, and indoor percussion. In the Marching band, Brad became the brass section leader as a sophomore, and helped lead his band to ACI's, where the Cougar Band took 1st place. While performing at CHS, Brad was privileged to attend West Chester University's Leadership School. There he learned how to challenge students to become outstanding leaders and performers. Brad pushes our students with an exceptional dedication to the perfection of music.
Working experience includes: working for Music and Arts as a brass repair technician and in retail locations. After graduation of high school, Brad continued to help the brass section at CHS, along with filming practices and competitions. Brad has also worked as low brass and visual instructor for the Gov. Thomas Johnson Marching Band and Oakdale High School Marching Band. This season he is excited to be working closely with the Oakdale Marching Band again to help the students be all they can be!

Elizabeth Alexander

Color Guard Director
Elizabeth Alexander is a recent graduate of Oakdale High School, having completed with High Honors in the Spring of 2014. She was a member of the Oakdale Dance Team for four years where they performed on the Disney Stage for the National Dance Team Championships. She was also a member of the All-American Dance Team which performs New Year’s Day in London. She captained the team when they won the Mid-Atlantic Pom and Dance Association’s State Competition in the Spring of 2014.
Lizzy was also an active member of the Color Guard program here at Oakdale for three years, being captain of the Indoor Program in the Spring of 2014 where she was the lead soloist for the Show, “Over the Love”. She is trained in all three pieces of equipment, rifle, sabre and flag.
She is currently attending University of Maryland, College Park as a Physiology and Neurobiology major. She is very excited to be helping out the Band Program this season and helping the students in their effort to achieve greatness. She hopes to be able to share her knowledge of dance and movement with all members of the program to help them grow as a program and as individuals.

Michael Kearney

Percussion Director

Mike comes to us from New York, where he has worked with percussion programs throughout the state.

He is excited to be working with the Oakdale percussion again this year to make them better and better!
